It’s Always Summer In The Philippines!

Summer is here! Or should we say, the country’s hottest months are taking place? Whatever we rationalize about this period, we simply correlate it to frolicking on the beach, conquering mountains, taking a trip to far-flung provinces, jetting off to another country or to merely have some time-off for ourselves.

Yes, summer means all of the aforementioned things. It can be a long vacation or just a little weekend during a holiday break. In any case, activities like these can mean so much to us — it makes us more productive, it boosts our emotional well-being and mental health, and washes our anxieties away. According to NY psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert, a short weekend getaway “packs a bigger punch than longer ones”. Having said that, no matter how busy we may be, let’s take advantage of the upcoming Holy Week and future weekend breaks because they provide opportunities to fine-tune ourselves.

And, the good news is, Metro Manila is bordered by impressive getaways — both upscale and affordable ones that will suit the needs and budget of any wanderluster or weekend warrior. For proximity’s sake, the provinces of CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) tops the list of summer vacation spots near the Metro. You can chase waterfalls, camp on the beach, geek out in historical museums and churches, go spelunking in caves, hunt for native delicacies and more. The scenic provinces of Central Luzon (Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija) is blessed with relaxing laid-back settings — pristine beaches and coves, man-made sights and landmarks, to name a few. Not to be forgotten is the Cordillera region that offers cool climate, spectacular rice-terraces and a unique, intriguing culture. The popular hotspots like Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, Bohol and Siargao, to name a few, continue to draw in tourists and travelers — locally and internationally – all year long. Truly, with a plethora of natural gems, the Philippines is one of Asia’s dream destinations.
